Binh Thuy Ancient House
Located at No.26/1A Bui Huu Nghia Street, Binh Thuy District, about 10km from Can Tho City, Binh Thuy Ancient House was built in French architectural style in 1870 by Mr. Duong Chan Ky – a wealthy mer – chant. This is one of the few intract ancient houses in the Mekong River Delta.
The ancient house covers an area of about 8.000m2 with lush garden, creating fasci – nating landscape and fresh spaece. It features and Western styles. The former can be seen in the furniture and arrangements inside the house while the latter is reflected in the architecture and decoration.
Many rare antiques are preserved in the house such as two sets of marble table and chairs originated from Yunnan (China) set of mosaic table and lounges with French furnlture style from Louis XV period, chandener produced in 18th century, pair of jade vases, etc. Binh Thuy Ancient House was chosen as a filming tocadon for “The Lover” (L’Amant) and was recognized as a national rlic for archttecturat art tn 2009.
